Biography

Captain Brandon C. Smith was born in Tennessee. He commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2008 from Tennessee Technological University and branched Field Artillery. He graduated from Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course in 2009 and was stationed at Joint Base Lewis McCord. He served in several leadership positions to include: Platoon Leader, Fire Direction Officer, and Executive Officer as well as serving as a Platoon Leader during a deployment to Iraq.

Captain Smith graduated from Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in July 2013 and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. While stationed at Fort Bliss, Captain Smith served as the Assistant Brigade Fire Support Officer, Battalion Fire Direction Officer, and a Battery Commander.

Captain Smith’s military education includes Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course, HIMARS Launcher Course, Joint Firepower Course, Joint Operations Fires and Effects Course, and the Field Artillery Captains Career Course.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (1CS), Global War on Terrorism, Army Service Ribbon and the Combat Action Badge.
